Rules
PRINT rules
1. Coaches
- Coaches must check-in 15 minutes prior to the first game of the tournament. Tournament check-in will take place at the Information Tables near the concession area.
2. General Information
- All teams should come with light and dark shirts. Uniform tops must be the same color for each team member, with a number on it. TEAMS LISTED FIRST—WILL WEAR LIGHT COLORED SHIRTS.
- All teams should bring along a copy of their Certificate of Insurance.
- Locker room space will NOT be available. Teams should come dressed and prepared to play.
- TEAMS SHOULD COME WITH THEIR OWN FIRST AID KITS-INCLUDING ICE PACKS. MEDICAL PERSONNEL WILL NOT BE ON-SITE TO TREAT INJURIES.
- A player may play on only one team during the tournament.
3. Tournament Regulations
- Any team that is not ready to play five minutes after their scheduled game time will forfeit that game. No refunds will be provided.
- All IHSA rules will be applied. Any defensive scheme will be allowed in all age divisions,
- Two certified referees to officiate each game.
- Teams will be allowed three (3) minutes to warm up.
- Two eighteen (18) minute halves with running clock, except for the last 1 minute in each half. The clock will then stop for each dead ball and/or whistle.
- Three-point shots are allowed.
- Press allowed.
- At the 5th grade girl’s level – press allowed ONLY last minute of each half.
- No full court press by teams up by 15 or more points
- Two time outs per half – (1) full and (1) 30 second each half. Time outs do not carry over to the second half.
- Half-time intermission will be 3 minutes long.
- Overtime is two minutes. First minute is running clock. During the last minute, the clock will stop for each dead ball and/or whistle. Each team will have one time out during overtime. If still tied after one overtime, the next OT session will be SUDDEN DEATH – with the first team to score 2 points wins.
- Bonus will be in effect on the 7th team foul, double bonus on the 10th.
- A technical foul on a player or coach will also be assessed as a personal foul on every team member. Two technical fouls will mean ejection from the game for the player or coach receiving the technicals. Coaches will receive a warning for misconduct by parents of their team members. A second parent misconduct will result in a technical foul.
- Tournament expulsion of players, coaches, or fans will be at the discretion of referees and /or tournament officials.
- Coaches are responsible for their players and fans. If coaches cannot control their players and fans, that team will be asked to leave the tournament and forfeit the rest of their games.
- All other rules of participation will be in accordance with the current IHSA basketball rules.
- Girls will use the 28.5 inch ball.
- Fifth grade boys teams will use the 28.5 inch ball.
- The 6th, 7th, and 8th grade boys will use the regulation 29.5 ball.
Tiebreaker Rules
- Each Division – has a Gold and Silver division (except 5th grade girls).
- All tiebreakers to determine Pool Seedings and / or Championship game seeding will follow these rules:
- Overall Record – within pool
- Head to head record
- Point Differential – all games played (max of 15 points per game)
- Total Points allowed – all games played
4. Elmhurst Airborne Youth Basketball Philosophy and Principles
- The goal of the Elmhurst Airborne Youth Basketball is to provide young players with competitive team programs in a positive athletic environment. Sportsmanship, ethics, and integrity are the fundamental components of quality athletic activities. To that end, the following principles will govern all Elmhurst Airborne Youth Basketball activities:
- Coaches and players are expected to conduct themselves in a sportsman-like manner at all times. Coaches shall use their influence to enhance sportsmanship by their spectators. Profanity, taunting, fighting, or abusive behavior will not be tolerated at any time by any coach, player, parent or spectator.
- Contest officials shall have the respect and support of the coach. The coach shall not indulge in conduct that will incite players and spectators against the officials. Public criticism of officials is unacceptable.
Facilities: York Community High School No locker rooms will be available. Score keepers will be provided for all games
Equipment: Each team will be responsible for bringing its own warm-up balls. Please have both light and dark jerseys with numbers on front and back. Teams listed first will wear light colored jerseys.
Awards: Medals will be presented to each player on the 1st place teams for both the Gold and Silver divisions in each age group. Limit 12 medals per team.
Admission: Free admission to all. We will collect a FOOD DONATION on Saturday. We ask everyone to bring 1 Food item (or $1) that will go to the local food pantry.
Concessions: Food and beverages will be available during all games. Concessions will serve a great variety of food to include: Muffins, Fruit cups, yogurt, hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza, sausage sandwiches and salads.
Miscellaneous: Tournament T-shirts and Sweatshirts will be available for purchase.
